Mitsubishi Shogun Sport SHOGUN SPORT SW SPECIAL EDS 2002 - 2006

4 star review

Bought this in haste to replace my much loved Ford Explorer V6 4.0 , also with LPG, when the timing chain broke, 2 months ago Its a 2004 with 80k all the Warrior toys & the usual LPG problem of a tank that wont fill & lacquer is peeling on wheel arches ! Seems to have been a mums chelsea tractor that took dogs & kids to the beach, so not seen much mud, but been well looked after under the bonnet . I can recognise most of the positives & negatives from owners above . I've had manily 4.0 V8 RRs & other of similar capacity : For an apparently 170bhp V6 3.0 it seems underpowered (after the Ford v6 4.0 200bhp) & the Explorer was another 4 cwt (200kg) heavier too. So those sums don't add up. LPG does not affect performance that noticeably, in fact when running on LPG it sounds better & drives better all the time As a jap - its sort of too hard in the suspension & seats & too short of the acceleration curve. Its used as a works truck to haul tools timber & other stuff about, the back seats are always permanane,t down . it takes a 3mtr length of timber & will tow what I need it to . far more rewarding that driving a tranny ! Functional, but not special , is my take on it . I like vehicles with personality when it comes to cars , & japs always lack that , which I have to accept. Others rave about these sports : hate to think what they must have driven in the past ? I've driven a mates proper fullsized shogun & based this purchase on that - they are miles apart in everything , these sports are the poor cousin in that regard . But for reliability , japs , in general cannot be faulted - I also know that, as long as you service annnaully: & look after them - but that is the same for anything engineered &/or mecahnical . Most used buys that prove to be rubbish have usually been neglected

What an odd review. You either have a personalised number plate, in which case why say "I have a c reg" or you don't actually have a Mitsubishi Shogun Sport. Why do I say this? Because 'C' registrations date from 1985 and the Shogun Sport wasn't available until 1996. - from Portugal

made of cheep metal a lot of rot no good on farm cow and horse pee wood rot it out in no time its just a load of cheep rubbish and costly to keep on the road - from Neath Port Talbot

I bought my car in September 2005 only 6 months old and with 4500 on the clock. I've had it parked out on the street for 11 years. It has no rust and it starts every time! I put tyres on it and it just keeps going. I've only serviced it myself and fixed a corrosion problem on the battery terminal connections. Its done 92k and its only just had two advisories on the last M.o.t exhaust is rusty and so are the brake pipes but its still road worthy. Think I'll buy another Mitsy

Mitsubishi Pinin SHOGUN PININ ESTATE 2000 - 2005

5 star review

I an looking for a little help. The normal way on earlier pinin versions was to fit a tow bar using the encapsulated M12 x 1.25 nuts in the chassis. On the 2005 pinin equippe version the encapsulated nuts are not provided on the offside only the near side (RH drive). This then means an alternative fixing which is probably longer bolts through the chassis member with washers and nuts. Has anyone experienced this ? and what was the solution? Thanks in anticipation Geoff

Mitsubishi ASX ASX DIESEL ESTATE 2012 - 2016

4 star review

I have liked the Mitsubishi ASX for quite sometime however, I have only just changed my car and had a Kia Sportage. seeing the reviews reported on this vehicle, I will without doubt acquire this type of vehicle as my next car. Saying this, my current vehicle is that of Kia Sportage which, I am also very pleased with. With such a large range of vehicles nowadays, its difficult to chose which one to go for. For the driving experience, comfort, storage etc the Kia Kia is of my top choice at present but, would love to be able to compare this with the Mitsubishi ASX3.

Been ultra reliable @ just 95000mls. Requires sourcing 18/20'' alloys to replace (still immaculate 16'') for a fatter look.

I've had a 2000 LWB 2.5TD GLS for 11 years now, and I could list many faults, including binding rear calipers, missing 6th gear, electrical problems and v expensive parts - but I'll stop right there! This vehicle has been the most reliable machine, out of the 20 or so cars I have had. It just keeps going - bought it when it was 4 years old with 90000 hard driven miles on the clock. From the rust and dents in the floor pans, it had been obviously been used off road - I bought it blind off of eBay! But it's been brilliant, it tows anything - even heavier 4x4's that get stuck! I have filled the entire car with firewood - it was on the stops! I've fitted 2 surf boards in the back and 4 on the roof for surfing holidays. We've had breakfast out of back at the beach, park, racetrack. It's carried 2 sets of ladders since i've had it - we have even slept in it! I really have tried my hardest to wear it out, but I can't! I've had no engine/gearbox/axle problems - just need to replace the front antiroll bar bushes every year! Cheap to insure as long as you are over 30. Yearly maintenance costs have averaged about £250, until recently, so for short journeys, it's been cheap to run, for what it does. In fact, I'm so impressed with this machine, I have bought an almost unblemished 2007 LWB Equippe, so I now have one for work and one for play!

Bought this 53 plate, had loads of trouble, not the car`s fault, dealer that sold it put cam kit on and broke the pulley, then the engine management light kept coming on. Took it to Mitsubishi, turn turbo up said all sorted, drove down the road 30 mins it came back on, read up said turbo goes between 80000 and 90000 miles. Took back and had new turbo on, it`s been fine since. Also brake problem... rear stops all due to the age and mileage of the car. Funny it went through MOT with all these problems but that's another story, worth the money I've paid out, love this 4x4

2005/05 with 120k mostly motor miles. No issues till 5 years within extended warranty. Alternator failure, replaced at 60k miles; 4WD switches failed at 90k miles, replaced £700 from dealer. Engine oil pressure sensor/ gauge leaking oil at 110k miles, replaced £120. Now at 120k miles still leaking engine oil. Is this likely to be the sensor again? Not bad for 10 years of ownership.

(This car was bought 3rd hand with 38,000 miles on the clock - 07 Reg). I bought this car a mere 4 weeks ago and have hated every single journey I've taken in it. I have a problem with the Auxiliary Belt - this was replaced a week after buying the car and continually auto adjusts and loosens itself so it makes an annoying and embarrassing LOUD squeaking noise when driving slow. Since fitting it has been tightened twice and is booked in today for tightening again as well as a new battery. With regards to battery problems - I started the car at the weekend to see that it had absolutely no power. Driving in automatic it wouldn't get past 1st gear and I was quite literally doing 25mph on the A1 with my hazards on...not cool! Since then it has refused to start on a number of occasions and the fact that my blinkers flash 9 times when locking or unlocking the car shows that the battery is at the end of its life. APART from that the car handles horribly on corners and you expect it to tip over every time. I used to drive an 03 Reg Citroen C3 and despite everything people say about them, it handled brilliantly and had a very responsive gearbox. I find that the Colt has a very unresponsive automatic gearbox and unless you want it to get to 5000rpm before changing gear you're best off driving it in manual, which I now always do. So. Onto the good things. The car feels heavy and sturdy to drive and the interior plastics and upholstery is of good quality. When driving on a straight it is a smooth ride and quite enjoyable. Also the cup holders are a decent size. The boot however is not. Rant over. Want my C3 back.

I have had the same problems exactly the same as Marie here with my CZC colt convertible 2006 model . I have also found the local Mitsubishi garage where I took it to have a window " motor " replaced and the leaking boot area re- sealed . They kept my car a week , no courtesy car available for me to use as not pre- booked. The water testing consisted of turning a hosepipe on my car and someone getting in the boot to check it ! Also the boot held the rain water - my spare tyre well in the boot was so full of rain water after down pours it had rusted the car jack ! I was not even aware I was driving around with a boot and door wells full of water . I constantly had wet seat belt to put on after storms . I was charged £1400 for this little lot to be put right by the garage . Guess what - car still retaining water and still suffering from wet seatbelt after storms . To top it all boot now won't open - I will not be going back to Mutsubishi to put it right that is for sure . Staff painful and unsympathetic .

We've owned our I-Car for 7 years now, a great little car, ideal for Jersey where we live but now we have a problem. It`s very clunky when changing from the auto box which means it is on its way out. Cost to change? £3k for a new box, plus £1k tax and labour, at which point cost exceeds the residual value and the car is probably junk. Seems a real shame as it's a cute little thing and gearbox apart should have thousands more miles life in it. Any comments/suggestions?

I’m a bit confused by some of the reviews I am reading about this car. My car is a 1.3 colt cleartec, the engine is very quiet, very little road noise, excellent quality plastics and seat materials, fast when you need it to be and economical. The suspension is on the firm side, but that’s not a bad thing. There is very little body roll on cornering, it copes well with the appalling road surfaces we have now. Very high spec for a car at this price, aircon, alloys, cruise control etc, et. The stop start system can be turned off if you want. £30 road tax and low insurance. It seems that my opinion and the opinion of 95% of owners differs somewhat from ’professionals’.

Great to look at but perfectly impractical!! I bought this car with just 100 miles on the clock. The first week I had it a fellow CZC owner approached me at the petrol station asking "do you have problems with the windows getting stuck down on yours after having the roof down?" I replied "not as of yet!" Soon after the problems began. After having the roof down I’d put the roof back up and one of the windows (always a different one each time) would get stuck down. And when you are putting your roof up due to rain, this is a real pain! Another problem is the boot; my boot got stuck one day, as I went to open it to get my shopping out, the boot would only lift up a few centimeters, it was clear that of I tried to force this it would damage the hinges. Therefore I had no option but to take it to the Mitsubishi garage. When taking it I was told they had to programme it to their computer to find the fault, following this I was told it was going to cost me £800 to have this repaired, even though it was nothing I had done to it, it was a fault of the car and I had to pay, or the only alternative was to leave it and have my boot out of use! Pretty pointless when you have a convertible! Anyway after years of shock relating to the quote for the fix I returned home to begin wondering how I was going to raise the money to get it fixed! A few days later I was telling a friend who is a back street garage mechanic and he said he would take a look. Five minutes later he came into the house and said he’d fixed my boot and now it works! I couldn’t beleive it. He said the fuse had gone, which operates the boot! You can imagine my response. And Mitsubishi wanted £800 for the problem, which they diagnosed! Leaking: This car constantly leaks in the passenger side foot well and in the boot, after heavy rain there is literally a puddle! It seems to come in from underneath the car and not the roof where you would expect it to leak from! Again this has never been correctly diagnosed or fixed! Currently my car is out of use due to all the heavy rain, it’s just full of water! Another problem is in the winter only, when I use the key fob to unlock the car the boot opens of it’s own accord! Every winter this has happened so I assume it’s do to with the cold! Again though a real pain! All in all this car is great fun in a summer day for a day out, big so practical for full time use, it’s tiny so unless you have small children to put in the back, you may aswell have a two seater! The roof rattles constantly when driving and is generally a very noisy car, you can barely hear the radio when on the motorway. If you can afford to have a spare car for summer then have one, otherwise do not purchase one of these. I paid £14000 for mine and have just had it valued at £1500. Ridiculous!

Electrics are a big problem. Something on our new car (of 5 months) somewhere is taking power from the battery when the car is not in use. If the car is used daily then no problem, however, if it stands for 4/5 days the battery goes flat and we cannot open the door, never mind start the car. The Garage (Plichta Motors Gdynia) are insistent that it is our usage of the car that is at fault and not the electrics - idiots! They are too stupid or too lazy to properly investigate the cause or causes. The car has been in the garage 8 times over 50+ days now and they have changed the alternator, battery, computer, (but they have I think checked wiring, relays, etc). We have now written to Mitsubishi Europe. Lets see what happens. We love the car BUT ???

I buy this car with 1 years and 6 months. I buy the car in 2004, well I have 325,000km made! And no problems. Only chage oil, brakes, time belts, etc... I have this car 10 years with me, this car is very reliable. In highway 120km/h spend 5l to 100km, and in the city is about 6l. I drove this car with one tank (60l) 1200km! ONLY AT 120KM/h Obvious if I go like 160km/h I make a lot less (900 km).

A fantastically reliable car, I sold it with 290000 km and had to repair nothing outside of the usual wear and tear. (Exhaust, brakepads and discs, battery and light bulbs) It even still had the first set of shock absorbers and wheel bearings. It is very unexciting to drive, especially as an automatic, but lots of space and comfortable enough. Fuel economy isn’t great at 9L/100km. The automatic shifts a bit erratically, especially when hot, but never failed. Reliability is very important to me, and it is by far the most reliable and low maintenance car I’ve owned.
