Acquired my 2003 Peugeot partner combi HDi about two months ago. Only checked oil with dipstick 2 or 3 times but on last check I was unable to get the dipstick back in the tube. It goes in about a foot or so but then seems to be hitting metal leaving at least 6" of dip stick still out of the tube. Tried turning the dipstick through 90/180/270 degrees but to no avail it wont go in. Am I being a complete dipstick myself or could there be something wrong?

Hi I drive a 2003 Peugeot Partner (car). The drivers side headlight (right-hand side), has been damaged by hitting an animal a while back. The damage caused is the metal bracket/guard which the headlight sits in, it has snapped right through, and is currently held in position with strong wire, just to prevent it from moving/wobbling around. Can is be fixed, without the need to replace to whole unit, or not? As the headlight itself works perfectly fine. If it needs the whole bracket replacing, how much is it likely to cost? Thanks Sarah.

Hi. My engine fan won't work. We have checked the fuse, new replay, the fan dose work as we tested it but not in the car. Thermostat works and checked the collar senor wires by shorting them and theey went up on the dash. Any ideas?

Answers

Your radiator fan doesn't necessarily need to work.. it comes into action when there is a potential overheat situation detected.. like sat in stationary traffic for a long time. Take it for a drive to get the engine to normal temp then park it up and leave it tick over for abt 15mins.. the fan should activate then.. if it doesn't, or you've already done the running test, then it could be a temp sensor or poor connections from the sensor R Evans from Caerphilly

I have an intermittent tacho fault, sometimes it works just fine & other times the needle is either in a random place but moving. Or is pointing straight down & not moving at all, it got to a point where its not working correctly most of the time. The previous owner replaced the instrument cluster so it shouldn't be that, any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Gerry in Suffolk.

Hello, Im currently working in France with my Peugeot Partner Combi 2002, suddenly the power steering stopped working, pulled over and I've worked out that the drive belt is on its last legs, Im not in the position to have it repaired and I'm going to have to fix it on the road. Any advice? as I've changed this belt on my T4 before but I've not had this car for long. Belt seems to power a lot, alternator and power steering +, can any one give me a step by step to remove the belt? Anything il have to remove first? Iv also noticed that there is a slight leak at back, looks like its coming from the same area as the belt, its not oil so I'm guessing its power steering fluid? is that normal or am i looking at an additional problem? Could the lose belt of cause a leak? Thanks in advanced

Replacing central rear seat belt on Peugeot partner quicksilver: central rear seat belt is jammed causing the car to fail it's MOT in France. Have managed to find a replacement seatbelt, but it now seems in order to access the belt, the seat needs to be cut. Is this the case? Is there a way of accessing the belt without taking the whole back of the seat off, or cutting into it? Seems like a ridiculous design, as the cords to release the seat backs break easily, leading to a whole load of problems. Thanks for any advice.

Answers

hi no you dont have to cut the seat Katie, had the same problem? when i contacted Peugeot they said at the rear of the set there is a metal plate, on the edges of this is a grove, in the grove there is the seat cove, you have to prize this out all the way round and take the seat cover of, just so you can get into the seatbelt fixing/. repair it and re assemble it the way you take it of. i havent done it yet but i am going to. as far as the MOT is concerned if you fold he seats down, technaclly they cannot touch them to test the seat belt there not allowed, so i will pass the mot . mine did with the same problem!. hope this help. hi all,i have a problem that i cant lock the doors as the display says the back boot lid is open but infact it is not. painful as well as every few seconds a bleeping sound and back on the display the boot lids open, this most frustrating as all is good and all is closed and so all should be working good, seems the more technology progress's the more to go wrong, am i the only one who wants simple devises for cars!!! because my problems seems sooooo stupid. btw hope all is having a good time over the xmas holls and hope all have a good new year too all the best, owen.

Answers

Replying to myself, found answer to my problem on another page. The problem with your boot lock is caused by 1-- the boot release handle lever stuck in 2-- the boot release handle micro switch full of water The boot lock is released by the release lever pushing on the micro switch which tells the BSI to unlock the boot catch. The micro switch is in the boot handle, this can be removed by removing the inner tailgate trim then removing the 2 securing nuts on the handle, disconnect the switch wire connector and remove the whole handle. You can now check if the release lever is stuck by moving the lever, you should be able to hear or feel the micro switch click. Sometimes the little spring tag that returns the lever is broken or cracked causing the lever not to fully return causing the problems with the boot not locking,(WD 40 can be used on the lever pivot point to help free it up a bit). If you are happy with the lever operation a new micro switch is required, these can be bought from any Peugeot dealer Owen Elves from Wiltshire

Hi, I have a Peugeot Partner (2003) 1.6 petrol which is central locking. When it gets cold/damp the central locking fails to work properly. However, recently, the display in the car has come up with a warning "remote central locking battery low", it's only appeared once, what dos this mean? As the car/engine battery works fine, as it starts okay.

Peugeot Partner Combi

I have an intermittent fault which seems to occur about a month apart, the car drives perfectly but occasionally when I have stopped and switched off the engine , e.g. at a shop an then try to start it again there is a click as if the starter motor is U/S and the engine wont start, if I then leave it 30 -4 0 mins it will start 1st time. Today it did it again but this time I sat in it waiting and sure enough after 30 mins or so I heard a click from under the dash in the area of the fuse box, tried the ignition and it fired up perfectly. I have taken it into the garage twice and they cant find anything wrong, its not the battery (new one fitted) and they have tested both the starter and the alternator - all ok. They say that unless they can see it when the fault is present they cant do anything about it but this obviously cant happen give its nature. Any advice, perhaps someone else has experienced this, will be gratefully received. thanks you

Answers

Hi there I have experienced this quite a few times with the Fiat Ducato. I had the vehicle for ten years, it can only be fixed by removal and then serviced. That is the solenoid because the copper pin inside the unit doesn't make contact because of temperature difference, that's why you have to wait for the temperature to decrease. You may see that it will work better in colder weather so do that or replace the solenoid to overcome it there and then, get a screwdriver and override it as if you are the solenoid. This will work. Hope this helps, it isn't an expensive problem.... preston young from Bridgend

Oh yes be sure the connection to the battery are tight as the current pull will be very demanding regardless to the voltage acquired at the time ,,its just wear in the solenoid ,,,I am an electrician I knows that this is the case .....all the best... preston young from Bridgend
