i am looking at buying a 1.3 suzuki swift 2006 but i am worried as when i test drove it the steering was much lighter turning to the left than it was turning to the right..is this a common fault or something more serious and could it be a cheap fix..any information would be much appreciated

Answers

The steering angle sensor setting needs to be checked and re-set if necessary. The steering rack may be turning more in one direction than it is the other and disproportionate assistance given. Hugh from City of Glasgow

My Suzuki Swift`s fuse box is located in the engine compartment near the battery. The accessories, radio, and cigarette lighter won’t work as a result of running a small compressor to pump up bicycle tyres. No fuses appear to be blown and I am at a loss to find out where the particular fuse is located. Can anyone help me?

I have no power to the radio in my 2007 Suzuki Swift. Does anyone know what is the problem?

Answers

I had this problem a few months ago, I had left the cigarette lighter out the socket and a coin had gone in and fused it. The radio has two fuses under the dashboard drivers side one in the middle of the bottom row and an accessory one in the top row mine had blown the accessory fuse Michael Searson from Derbyshire

Main fuse box under the dashboard Tucked up behind the bonnet release. Should be fuse 6 (top row last small fuse to the right) Oddly labelled as Accessory in the manual. Don't forget to get the fuse remover from the fuse box in the engine bay. Nick from Cambridgeshire

I am using a Suzuki carry van. Is it good to use mobile engine oil (petrol) which can run for 5000 km? Using this oil, is there any way the engine is worn out quickly, because one of my garage holder told me that long distance oil should not be used as it would easily wear out the engine?

Answers

I also used a similar oil and my garage guy advised me not to uses it since i only travel around 600 km per month and i had to wait for approximately 8 months for the next oil change which was bad for the engine since the oil can turn in to sludge. if you are doing long distance and oil change in every 2 moths its fine to uses Mobile if not take your garage guys advice. Answers

You have an electric fault in the system, have you just fitted anything electric to the car? If so, recheck the wiring. Other than that an auto electric, something is causing the fuse to blow! Trebor from Lancashire

Hi. I have recently purchased a used 2002 Suzuki Carry van that is in excellent condition except that the engine cuts out intermittently. Just before this happens the "Check Engine" light comes on and the engine begins to idle roughly and then cuts out. This condition doesn’t last long as I am able to restart the engine with no problem, but for the most part this is a vexing problem as it occurs quite often. I’ve already had the fuel tank checked for dirt and moisture and even had the fuel pump tested but they were all fine. I love my Carry and would hate to get rid of it. Can someone please help me?

Answers

I have similar problem - sudden loss of power when idling, then a strong surge, then a loss and another surge, then eventually engine cuts out. Have replaced throttle position sensor - very expensive - but it did not help. Love my Carry too. Shelagh from Devon

Hi, my van cuts out intermittently and then starts up again. It can go for a few days and then it happens again. I believe this to be an electrical fault. Please can you help me? Many thanks :0)

Answers

I know in this country there was a recall about 6-7 years after initial production that found an electrical fault ’that may cause fire’all though there have been no documented cases of this happening. If your van has no sticker affixed to driver’s side door then it may have been missed and still have the fault. My van went in for a free check and was given the all clear, I would suggest you check with the local Suzuki dealer if this may be the problem as not all vehicles get seen in a recall, especially if sold secondhand and serviced by a non-Suzuki dealer Nick Schubert from Australia

I have had this with a car, it was a simple connector that was loos, with the engine running just move the wires about, if it cuts out you have the wire, it worked with me !! cap43 from Stoke-on-Trent

Hi, I have changed a headlight bulb and brake light on a Suzuki Carry van and now when I brake the headlights come on, even though they are turned off. The brake lights are working as normal,. Has anyone got any ideas please?

Answers

I would think you are shorting out from the back lights area when you changed break bulbs, take out the N/S break bulb then see if the head lights still come on, if Yes then the short is on that side, if not do the same with the O/S, it is only what I would do, but it may work, cap43 from Stoke-on-Trent

My Suzuki Swift has lost power to the whole central unit including the radio and cigarette lighter. I checked the radio fuse, located very awkwardly under the steering wheel in the wheel arch, but this didn’t make any difference. Does anyone have any advice please? (GL 3DR A11S M/T)

Answers

My son has just had the same problem on his Suzuki Swift 2008 model. I found that on his vehicle the radio and cigarette lighter were powered through the accessories fuse and not the radio fuse. On inspection the fuse had blown with replacement rectifying the problem. The fuse in question is housed in the fuse box under the steering wheel and can be quite awkward to get at Paul from Cheshire
