Nissan NV200 NV200 DIESEL 2009

3 star review

Bought this 3 years ago as a 100 mile on clock pre registered. Back in march 2017 just before warranty ran out warning lights on dash engine in limp mode. Went back to Nissan and injector replaced two weeks later days before warranty injector again replaced under warranty. At this point 20000 miles on clock. Now 6 months later and a modest 3000 miles later warning lights on dash and limp mode presume its an injector again. Rang the same nearest Nissan garage to book in this morning for next week. They said they will ring back (no they did not) so come Monday will have to try again. regret buying a Nissan now . I have been driving for over 40 years various makes and this has been the worst suggest you consider a different make

DPF problems can be caused by not using the correct oil specification. Should be C3 (low ash). - Geert-Jan Smolders from Netherlands

My Nissan NV200 is just 6 months old with 9000 miles on the clock and needs a new wiring loom and engine management box or something like that due to water ingress. Parts on back order from factory, with the dealership trying to do temporary repairs twice with no success. I’ve also not been given a courtesy van at the dealership. My initial thoughts? Why didn’t I lease something different, heap of junk. Think seriously before buying!

My van has suffered same problem and Nissan says that there is no design fault ...so how does water get into loom and Ecuador , when it's up on right side of bulkhead Looking at 3 k repair unless they fix it under warranty ...van only worth 6k Gutted as been a great run around ... - from Midlothian

Having bought this van new in April 2013 and the fact that I am not a business user, I am struggling to get to 50mpg. I have now driven 2500 miles and I have to say a few things concern me: the engine rattles like an old 60’s diesel engine, which I think is due a visit to the dealer. The instrument panel does not dim when the lights are switched on. It is also a rocky ride when empty.

Having had a Vito, Berlingo, Knago, Escort, Hyundai, etc. All I can say is if I’m still alive in the future I’ll make an updated comment on this overpriced piece of junk. Mine is brand new and I feel they are only worth 2K.

Have been driving my NV200 for 3 mouths now and have found it fantastic on diesel, 56 miles to the gallon. It may be because it has a 6 seed gear box. The only thing I think would be better is if the sat nav did not come on every time I started it up. Having a 110 bhp helps a lot when it is loaded. A top van in London.

Hi Doug. I’ve got the same spec as you, however I’m struggling to get any more than 42mpg after calculating after refilling! Others seem to be in the 50’s. Do you regularly get these sort of figures?? - Michael Blake from Devon

Hi there, I too bought a nv200 and while I love the cab and loading features of this van my may concern is the poor fuel return I’m getting. I have had the van for 2 months which as now done 13400 miles, I drive the van as eco as I possibly can and only get 39 - 41 mph and of mind that I might have an ecu or management issue as every other person seems to be getting 50+ mph. I carry my tools and a van vault in the back which isn’t exactly a massive weight. My other grip is why oh why only 14" wheels to needed at least 15" or 16" wheels - Paul Graham from Staffordshire

I feel so sorry for this little van as it the worst vehicle I have driven in a long time, shocking and scary are the best two words to describe it. While driving the steering constantly feels like you are driving on ice as the front wheels skate along in any direction they feel like. I am guessing this is not actually happening, but this is certainly the feeling you get when driving and as a previous person said "you’re gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles"! I hate this van with a passion and would love it to be stolen, smashed to bits or have a great object fall from the sky and squash it flat. Then hopefully my company might see sense and lease something half decent? Also the fuel economy is bad so far 37mpg!!??! For such a small van why so bad? Maybe it uses so much fuel making that hideously loud diesel engine noise that drives you insane while driving around? If you’re stupid enough to buy one of these mark my words you too will soon wishing it is stolen so you can claim and then buy a decent vehicle. Avoid at all costs!!

Thank you so much, you have saved me countless headaches. I will say a prayer for you in return that you get a new van - Delmar Hepperly from United States of America

I agree with you Karl. I have a 2011 NV200 and the handling on mine is atrocious, but mainly on damp/wet roads. I'm someone who drives to the speed limit and I don't race to get there. I typical example would be turning right onto a main road from a T junction. If I apply even a touch more power than normal, the front nearside wheel will totally lose traction and wheel-spin all the way to third gear. I promise you that I'm not even remotely trying to push the van hard. I have had situations, where trying to get into the traffic flow I have put my foot down and the thing just wheel-spins like mad and you hardly move due to the lack of traction. That is bl**dy scary! I pray that other drivers don't let me cross in front of them at junctions, when the roads are wet because you feel such a fool when the van wont pull away. In the case of my van I would say it is dangerous and I cant wait to be rid of it. I'm going for a used new shape Transit Custom next. - from West Sussex

I have a nv combi 2011, regarding the wheel spin on wet roads it caused me a problem on wet roads and i was dreading the snow which is forecast. so I decided to try new tires, i eventually found that a good pair of van tires gave me better traction than the tires that came with the combi from nissan. not perfect but feels safer. all in all I like the van and average 50 mpg (diesel ) - Gary Smith from Greater Manchester
