Hey there, I've just bought a '99 Nissan Terrano R3MR. It's 3l turbo diesel engine. I don't have any books about it yet and as ridiculous as it sounds, I can't find the fuses for things like the cigarette lighter, interior lights, radio etc. I've tested all the fuses I've found but none are blown so they don't account for the aforementioned bits. Sorry to sound so lame people but some of us just aren't built for working on vehicles. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. Kind regards, Mark Noble.

Im having crunching when slowing down changing. Down gears ive had a new clutch fitted but not made any difference.

Answers

Likely to worn syncromesh in the gearbox. Double de-clutch when changing down, if there's no crunching re-affirms it's worn synchromesh. Mick from Portugal

Hi - I have a nissan terrano [engine: TD27 (ETi) 2664 YOM 1995] that fires up OK to idling speed. When the accelerator pedal is pressed, RPM reaches 1000 - 1500 before losing power. The mechanic working on it suspected that the sensor unit (APS) attached to the accelerator pedal is at fault. I have replaced the sensor in question but have made no difference. My question(s) is / are; 1). is the APS unit for TD27 (ETi) compatible with other terrano models? (The new sensor unit has a different part number from the original one). 2). Is there a chance that the error code pinpointing the APS sensor could be giving wrong information? Why I'm saying this is that at one stage - and using the original sensor unit - the mechanic had the engine running smoothly at idling speed. Stepping on the accelerator pedal, the engine would rev up 1500 rpm, lose power (fuel cut-off), engine indicator light on dashboard comes on (blinking). Releasing the accelerator pedal, the engine indicator light on dashboard goes off. With the new APS unit installed, stepping on the accelerator pedal, the engine would rev up 1500 rpm, lose power (fuel cut-off), engine indicator light on dashboard comes on (blinking). Releasing the accelerator pedal, the engine indicator light on dashboard remains on. Error code is 0403. I apologies in advance if the issue at hand has been addressed already in this thread and which i may have missed but would greatly appreciate it if i could be directed to the correct page. Thanks all.

Hi. I have a Nissan Terrano with autmatic free wheel hubs. They are not working, and I am wondering what part inside will normally be damaged and making it not work? I also need a good explenation on how they really work! regard Finn

Answers

I don`t know exactly how they work, had the same problem with mine. Take the drive unit off the wheel, as you pull it off you will find a spring then a ring with dimples on it on the outside, this fits into another ring with dimples on the inside the inner ring is held on by a circlip, both of mine were missing, got new ones now 4x4 works. Hope this helps unwin taylor from Blackburn with Darwen

Truck will be running fine then won't go over 1500 rpm for a period of time, then suddenly comes back to normal revs when operating accelerator. There is no pattern to when or how long this goes on for. Have cleaned fuel lines, replaced fuel filter. Seems to start this problem when temperature is up to half way. (1996 Terrano 2.7 Diesel)

Nissan Terrano

The car is stationery it will go forward when I put the stick into drive……when I put the stick into reverse it starts to reverse then fails. The battery is OK.There are no warning lights showing. Please help

Answers

Lionel, what year is the Terrano? Is it an R20? or Mistral, or an import ex Japan RM3? 2.7 or 3.2? What mileage? When was the last time you had the auto serviced (pan dropped, filter removed, ripped open and debris checked in it and in the bottom of the pan) and new fluid put in it? When did you last check the level of the fluid? Is there any water visible on the auto dipstick, or trans fluid in the coolant (think leak in the internal loop at the bottom of the radiator where the trans fluid is cooled) Did this failure to progress in reverse happen gradually, or all at once? I have loosened the master break cylinder from the booster and now my break pedal is very hard. What seal/o-ring have I possibly displaced and do you have a video or diagram on how to put together again. Thanks in advance.

Answers

Sean, why did you loosen the two components? What were you trying to do? Do you have a manual or schematic, or even any prior experience, because mucking about with brakes can be deadly to you and others? There are many Youtube vids on power brake boosters etc. Just look them up, but I suggest you Google http://terranoirk.ru/man/R20/br.pdf for a schematic first and look for whatever you may have disturbed by loosening it ...or have you already tried bolting it back together and letting the vacuum build up by idling the engine for a minute or two before trying the brake pedal? The vacuum is built up in the booster reservoir by the operation of the vacuum pump on the rear of the alternator and should be good for 14 pumps on the brakes before all boost is lost when the engine is stopped. If all else fails, drive very carefully to a mechanic..you will be able to brake but you will have to use both feet on the pedal to get decent braking.... http://terranoirk.ru/man/R20/br.pdf John Smith from New Zealand

Hi, I have recently obtained a Terrano 2000 2.7TD. Can someone please let me know what correct tire size is... is it 235/70/15R? Also is there a web site that offers a spec manual? This vehicle came from Japan, here the steering wheel is reversed on imports. Thank you for your help.

Answers

The very first result when I Googled tyres for Terranos was: Terrano II (R20) 93 – 08 133 215/80R15 26 32 Terrano II (R20) 93 – 08 133 235/65R17 26 26 For different sized tyres, this will give you an idea to start with. You tune the ride and handling the way you want it, and in accordance with the normal load you carry, the speed you travel, and the road condition. The main thing with any 4WD is that all tyres are the same outer circumference and that is most easily achieved by buying the same tyre brand and size and tread pattern for all 4 wheels, and the spare. Answers

Clean the MAF sensor it's the little black box connected to the air cleaner housing. Undo two screws and open it up carefully, spray some carby cleaner on the very fine wires and let it dry. Be careful because the wires are very delicate so don't break them. Good luck! Some guy from Australia
